This is an original hand-painted Tibetan Thangka Painting of the Samsara/Wheel of Life Bhavacakra Mandala, meticulously crafted with high precision and unwavering attention to detail. The Wheel of Life Mandala, a potent tool used by Buddhist monks to elucidate Buddha's teachings, is a testament to the depth and richness of this art form. It guides us towards realizing that liberation from the cycle of existence, known as Samsara, is possible and within our reach. Samsara is the continuous cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth, and the Wheel of Life, a metaphysical diagram of four concentric circles, is held firmly in the center by Yama, the Lord of Death, a poignant reminder of life's impermanence. The sky adorned with clouds or stars, located above the Wheel, represents the state of liberation from Samsara, which we can strive to attain.

The central circle of the Wheel, a focal point of the painting, displays three animal symbols representing the 'Three Poisons': ignorance, attachment, and anger. The snake and bird emerging from the pig's mouth symbolize anger and attachment stemming from ignorance, a profound insight into the human condition. The Wheel of Karma, depicted in the second layer, profoundly represents the law of cause and effect. It is a powerful moral compass, constantly reminding us that our actions, whether good or bad, have consequences and that we can attain spiritual ascension by doing good deeds.

As we delve deeper into the painting, we encounter the six realms of Samsara, a comprehensive and intricate representation of all possible states of existence in the universe. These realms, comprising higher and lower states, symbolize the cyclical nature of our existence. The outermost concentric ring of the Wheel of Life, a powerful visual, presents the process of cause and effect through the depiction of the twelve causal links. It is a stark reminder of our responsibility for our actions and their profound impact on our future.

By practicing the teachings of the Buddha, we can reverse the process that keeps us in Samsara. The Bhavacakra Thangka paintings, which usually contain an inscription at the bottom, serve as a practical guide to the liberation process. The engravings generally contain the essential teachings of Buddha, which consist of the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. These teachings motivate us to lead a conscientious life devoid of ignorance, attachment, and anger and to endeavor for spiritual growth.
