This is a high-quality Chongapa or Je Tsongkhapa-Tibetan Thangka Painting with Silk brocade. Chongapa was one of Buddha's disciples. Tsongkhapa was a renowned Tibetan Master who devoted his life to locating and studying all of the Indian Buddhist classics available in Tibet during his time. He is often depicted wearing a tall yellow hat and is the center of the Gelugpa sect, which was dominant in Tibet until the Chinese takeover in 1951. The Dalai Lama is the de facto leader of this sect.

Many monasteries in South Asia house the statue of Chongapa, along with Chanzeriz and other deities.
